Training:
OASC sponsors two one-day training sessions for professionals and direct service
providers each year. These trainings feature nationally recognized speakers.
Topics include state-of-the art research and best practice techniques for providing
services to children who have varying types of disabilities.
OASC sponsors two one-day tracks at the Ohio Association of County Boards of
MRDD Fall and Spring Conferences. The target audience for these tracks is administrators.
Topics include rule updates, funding issues, best practice implementation, and
management issues.
Networking:
OASC has nine regions that have a representative
who serves on the Board of Trustees. Regional meetings are scheduled
in
each region to provide training and networking opportunities
for member counties.
Regular communication is available by phone,
e-mail and on-site, for children’s services administrators
for the purpose of identifying important issues and coordinating
follow-up and
feedback on those issues. Mailings and surveys on pertinent and
relevant issues affecting children services administrators are
completed throughout the year. OASC maintains an updated e-mail
list of all members. Members can utilize the OASC Member Request
to obtain information from other programs across the state about
policies, procedures, service delivery strategies, funding, and
other issues.
OASC publishes a quarterly newsletter. The newsletter
includes feature articles about programs across the state in
addition
to information about statewide and national issues.
Representation:
OASC provides representation to
rule committees and other work groups that impact the day-to-day
operation of Early Intervention
and other programs for children.
